Do I need NEET or GUJCET for medical admission in Gujarat?

NEET is the national qualifying examination for MBBS and BDS admission across India, including Gujarat. GUJCET is a Gujarat state entrance test used for other Group B courses such as pharmacy. For medical admission specifically, NEET is the decisive exam and PCB students should prepare accordingly.

Why students confuse the two

Both are sat by Class 12 Group B students in the same year, both cover Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and both are multiple choice. The difference is what each opens.

Admission rules and the courses each exam feeds are set by the authorities and do change, so confirm the current position on the official pages before planning a year around it.

Where PCB students actually lose marks

Physics, more often than Biology. Students who chose Group B because they found Biology natural frequently arrive at NEET with the weakest Physics in the room.

It is also the most fixable, because Physics rewards method rather than recall.
