Preparing for GUJCET and the Board Exam in the Same Year

Most Class 12 students try to do these as two separate jobs. That is why they run out of time.

GUJCET and the Class 12 board exam test almost the same syllabus in different formats. Prepare the concept once, then practise it twice: in written board format and in timed MCQ format. Treating them as two separate preparations is what causes students to run out of time.

Where the time actually goes

Students who fall behind usually did not study too little. They studied the same chapter twice, from two sets of material, at two different times of year.

The syllabus overlap between the board paper and GUJCET is large. What differs is the format, the clock and the negative marking.

The format is the skill, not the content

A student who knows electrostatics thoroughly can still lose GUJCET marks by being slow, or by attempting a question they should have skipped.

MCQ speed and skip-discipline are separate skills, and they are built over months of timed practice. They cannot be added in the final six weeks.

What a workable year looks like

Teach the chapter concept-first. Practise it in written board format, which is what the board marking scheme rewards. Then practise the same chapter as timed MCQs.

Keep an error log from the first month, so the same mistake is not repeated in March.

Sit full-length papers under real timing well before the exam, not as a final ritual.
