Choosing a Coaching Class in Ahmedabad: Nine Questions to Ask
A short list that tells you more than any brochure will.
Ask who will actually teach the batch, how big it is, whether written work is marked by hand, and what happens when your child falls behind. The answers to those four separate a teaching institute from a seat-filling one faster than any advertised result.
The nine questions
1. Who teaches this batch, by name, and will that person still be teaching it in February?
2. How many students are in the batch?
3. Is written work collected, marked by hand, and returned?
4. What happens when a student falls behind: does the class wait, or does the syllabus schedule win?
5. Will I be told honestly if my child is not on track, and when?
6. Is the person I am speaking to now the person who will teach?
7. Which board and which medium is this batch taught in?
8. Are past papers written under real exam timing, and from when in the year?
9. Can I sit in on a class, or speak to a current parent?
What advertised results do and do not tell you
A wall of top scores tells you the institute admitted some strong students. It does not tell you what happened to the average student, which is the one you are actually asking about.
The more useful question is what the institute does with a student who is struggling in October.
The signal that matters most
Whether the person selling you the seat is the person who will teach it. Everything else follows from that.
